The Consequences of Political
Apathy
By John J. Ubele
At one time or another most of us find ourselves wondering
why things have gotten so bad in our society. There is one
primary reason for this followed by many other secondary
reasons. The main reason is very simple to explain; we've
lost control over our government. The answer is just that
simple, amazing isn’t it? Let me say it again, “We’ve lost
control over our government”. That means it doesn’t work for
our interests anymore. That answer can lead to many
questions, like, “Why did this happen?”, “How did this
happen?”, and of course, “How do we regain control and fix
things?” I could easily write a twenty page essay answering
just those questions.
But I don't have the time or the space to answer all of
them. For the sake of brevity I will answer one question.
“Why did this happen?” We lost control over our government
because we became soft and misguided as a people and we
allowed ourselves to become politically apathetic which led
us to lose touch with our government. Any sane group of
people who want their interests represented would never
willfully give up control over the institutions that govern
them, unless they were insane or they were brainwashed by
the media to rank wasteful priorities above important ones
like actively participating in government. Let me give you a
few examples of things that waste your time and your money;
watching a football game, hanging out at a bar, shopping and
buying things that you don’t need and worse than that
purchasing those things on a credit card. There are almost
countless things that eat up time and our money that don’t
do anything to enrich our lives or our society.
Our people have been corrupted by the media while at the
same time powerful special interest groups pooled their
resources together and took control over our government. To
some the above statement may seem far-fetched or
unbelievable. However there is plenty of evidence out there
to support my case, I make a challenge to everyone reading
this commentary to spend a little time and read following
report titled, "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy".

We all understand that things aren’t going to improve on
their own. Those of us who realize this have the ultimate
responsibility not only to work to change things for the
better, but to educate and organize our people politically.
We in the Sons of Liberty Committee offer an instrument
which will allow our people to organize politically for our
interests. If you have any concern for your future and the
future of your children and your children's children, then
put an end to your political apathy and join with us.
